How Scary Is Inflation???

Financial advisers love to scare their potential clients on inflation!

So scary meh?

For younger folks; did you see your parents, grand-parents and great-grand-parents broke down due to inflation?

Honestly; Uncle8888 since started working in Aug 1977 till Sep 2016; he didn't really feel the pains of inflation hitting him hard; but the real heartache came from seeing his investment portfolio collapsing so fast! LOL!

Losses in your investment portfolio is far more scary than year on year inflation.

  1. Umm ... No feeling coz salary increments are generally higher than inflation, kekeke!

However it's a different thing over 20-30 years without an ongoing & increasing income stream, and drawing down on fixed amount of savings...

Ehh ... If you needn't have to build in 2.5% inflation rate, you wouldn't need to accumulate the amount that you did ... You could have relaxed & shake leg much earlier! 😉

  2. My late mother even profited from high inflation in her days.
And i mean she only kept her money under her pillow(aka banks).

  3. Inflation is not that scary. It is hyper inflation that is scary like in Venezuela now and in pre WW2 days in Germany.

  4. That's why must have some hard assets eg gold.
If can spread assets over many countries, even better.
    But are we that rich?
